Jamaica’s Minister of Health receives the Ambassador of Cuba.

Kingston, Jamaica, 28 June 2021. The Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica organized a farewell ceremony at its headquarters for the Ambassador of Cuba, Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, who will soon complete her diplomatic mission in the Caribbean nation.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health and Wellness of Jamaica; the Minister of State Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn and other directors of that Ministry, including representatives from all the health regions in the country.

Speaking on behalf of his government, the Jamaican Minister of Health conveyed his gratitude and recognition to all health professionals for the work carried out, emphasizing the positive contribution of doctors and nurses to the fight against the pandemic. Likewise, he expressed his admiration for the level reached by Cuba in terms of public health and described it as a benchmark worldwide. He praised the high level of training of health professionals and reiterated the interest of the Jamaican government in promoting community medicine and exploring potentialities for cooperation in the field of biotechnology and scientific research.

The Cuban ambassador reiterated the willingness to continue offering and diversifying bilateral cooperation, while she thanked the Jamaican people for the numerous expressions of affection and respect.
