Kingston, 13 April 2026. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica Tania López Larroque visited the headquarters of the Institute of Jamaica this morning. She was received by its Executive Director, Michele Creed-Nelson, and the heads of its seven divisions.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat received an update on the work developed by the Institute and its various divisions to promote cultural development, creativity and the identity of this Caribbean nation. She also learnt about the main projects aimed at fostering in the younger generations a love for the art, history and culture of their homeland, as well as their artistic and linguistic skills.
For her part, Ambassador López Larroque highlighted the historical and cultural ties that unite both nations. She emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration in areas such as the restoration and conservation of the historical heritage of both nations and highlighting the common ground between their cultures.
As part of the visit, the diplomat toured the exhibition halls of the National Museum, the Natural History and Music Museums, the African-Caribbean Institute of Jamaica and the Hall of Liberty: the legacy of Marcus Garvey.
