Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Defense received Cuban ambassador

Nairobi, September 14th. The Cabinet Secretary for Defense of Kenya, H.E. Mr. Monica Juma, received today at the headquarters of this institution the Ambassador of Cuba Ernesto Gómez Díaz, who paid on her a courtesy call as part of his farewell activities after concluding his diplomatic mission in this African country.

During the fraternal meeting, the ambassador reiterated to the minister Cuba's gratitude for the permanent support of Kenya for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island for more than 60 years.

Likewise, the Cuban diplomat thanked Kenya for the gesture of opening its embassy in Cuba a few years ago, which has contributed favorably to the continuous strengthening of bilateral and cooperation relations.

On her side, Minister Juma, after remembering her official visits to Cuba, reiterated her country's support for the immediate lifting of the blockade against the Greater Antilles; she praised the development of Cuban vaccines against Covid-19 and recognized the selfless work of Cuban doctors in the different corners of Kenya.

Before concluding the fraternal meeting, both interlocutors agreed to highlight the good state of bilateral relations and the need to continue working to develop new cooperation actions in other fields for the benefit of both peoples.
