Kenyan Foreign Minister met the Cuban Ambassador in Nairobi.

Nairobi, March 22.Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Kenya, received the Cuban Ambassador to this African country, Ernesto Gómez Díaz, at the Chancellery's headquarters.

During the friendly meeting, the Cuban diplomat thanked the Kenyan Foreign Minister for supporting his country in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba; as well as the opening of the Embassy in Havana and the signs of sadness and solidarity expressed after the passing away of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz, last November.

For her part, the Kenyan Foreign Minister reiterated the priority that her country grants to the relations with Cuba, and said that the decision to open last year the diplomatic headquarters in Havana is an example of this. Amina also reaffirmed her commitment to continue working to strengthen ties between the two peoples and governments and once again recognized the historic legacy left by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz for the African continent.

The productive meeting was also conducive to addressing other issues of interest on the bilateral and regional agenda, especially the possibilities that are being opened to increase cooperation between Cuba and Kenya in various fields.
