Kenyan President recognizes Cuba's support in the fight against Covid-19

Nairobi, March 4. During his statement on the occasion of the Annual Presidential Briefing to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in this African country, the President of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, recognized the support received from Cuba to support the Kenyan response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Referring to the solidarity received by his country in these difficult times, the Head of State stated: “In this context I particularly would like to recognize the support that we received from The Republic of Cuba, a brotherly country in the global south, which despite its size and limited resources, has continued to provide help to Kenyans and my administration throughout the year of the Covid-19 crisis”.

The Medical cooperation between Kenya and Cuba began in June 2018, when 101 Cuban specialists traveled to this East African country as part of an agreement for the provision of medical services, which has benefited large sectors of the population more humble in the different corners of this nation.

On July 17, 2020, a brigade of 20 Cuban doctors belongs to the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, arrived in Nairobi to support to support the response in this African country to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, causing Covid-19 disease. For 6 months, the brigade lent its selfless and altruistic cooperation here.
