Vientiane January 2024. Lao friends in this capital paid tribute to National Hero José Martí on the 171st anniversary of his birth.
The commemoration was honored with the presence of the Vice President of the Lao National Assembly and President of the Lao-Cuba Friendship Association, Dr. Chaleune Yiapahoer. An emotional ceremony at the School took place at the Laos Cuba Friendship School in Dongbang, whose setting was propitious for the launch of the contest on poetry and painting, aimed at students of the National Lao University (UNL) and the aforementioned school, within the framework of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Laos.
The activity closed with a cultural performance by UNL students, interpreting the guantanamera with simple verses by José Martí, and the delivery of passages of his work summarized in a poster donated to the School.
The event was held at a high level and was also attended by the Party Secretary of the Xaysettha district, the Chief of Staff of the province of Vientiane, the Deputy Director General of the Lao Foreign Ministry, other local authorities, the representation of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association and Cuban collaboration.
