In Laos was ratified the unwavering support and rejection to the energetic blockade to Cuba

Vientiane, February 19, 2026. The Cuban Ambassador to the Lao PDR, Enna Viant Valdes, held a productive exchange to update Lao friends on the situation in Cuba and the Latin American region.

The participants were also alerted to the scope of President Donald Trump's recent executive order of January 29 of this year and the impact of the energy blockade, which affects all aspects of Cuban society and its people—an act that promotes genocide and the deliberate suffocation of the civilian population and elicits condemnation and rejection from broad sectors of the international community.

She exposed the inconsistencies and falsehoods of the narratives being disseminated in the media and social networks, as part of the communication component of the hybrid warfare waged by US and Western media outlets. These outlets reinforce the narrative portraying Cuba as a terrorist country and a threat to US national security, when, paradoxically, this small country has lost thousands of its own as a result of attacks of this nature originating from and financed by that great power.

The diplomat elaborated on the updated war preparedness plans should conditions warrant it, emphasizing, however, that Cuba is a peace-loving people while also being ready to defend its sovereignty. She also discussed the energy strategy and plans to increase generation capacity with diverse sources, including renewables, and to move forward amidst the complex situation the country is facing.

Cuba has never been, nor will it ever be, alone. This was demonstrated by the exchange and convictions expressed by the participants, representatives of the Party, government, institutions, press, and the Lao people through the association, which proudly cultivates the unwavering friendship between both countries. Also present was a representative of Cuban collaboration in the Asian country.

Finally, the call to the Global South was reiterated, along with the need to understand the new scenario facing the world in the face of the political, ideological, and media war that requires unity of action, denunciation, and cooperation to defend dialogue and multilateralism against hegemonic imposition.

As a sign of the bonds forged in the struggle against common challenges, the Cuban diplomat thanked the friends in Laos, who reaffirmed their unwavering support for Cuba and its Revolution, convinced of the imperative need to end the genocidal and inhumane blockade that has violated the rights of the Cuban people for more than six decades.

The Vice President of the Friendship Association, Phoungkeo Langsy, wrote on his Facebook page about the meeting, stating that friendship and unwavering solidarity with Cuba are fundamental pillars in times of need, reiterating the phrase "Until Victory, Always" and "No Blockade to Cuba."
