By a large majority of 187 votes in favor, 3 against and 2 abstentions, the international community approved today, November 7, 2019, the resolution presented by Cuba at the General Assembly of the United Nations “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”.
For 28 consecutive years, since 1992, the General Assembly of the United Nations has approved with increasing majority the Cuban resolution and has demanded the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade suffered by the people of Cuba for almost six decades and that It has cost the Cuban economy more than 922 thousand 630 million dollars, taking into account the depreciation of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market. At current prices, the damages accumulated by the application of this policy reach the figure of 138 thousand 843, 4 million dollars.
