As in previous years, the great concert hall of Mahidol University, Thailand, hosted on August 17 and 18 a special program of Latin American music sponsored by the Embassies of the member countries of GRULAC in Thailand and coordinated by Colombia as dean of the group.
The Philharmonic Orchestra of Thailand, under the direction of maestro Alfonso Scarano, offered unforgettable masterpieces by composers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
The great Colombian soprano Betty Garcés was acclaimed for her magnificent performances, which included the much-praised pieces by Gonzalo Roig "Salida de Cecilia Valdés", "Bésame mucho" (Consuelo Velázquez), "Gracias a la vida" (Violeta Parra) and "El día que me quieras" (Carlos Gardel). The Philharmonic Orchestra made luxury performances of pieces such as "Malagueña" (Ernesto Lecuona), "Danzón no.2" (Arturo Márquez), "Danza Fantástica" (Enrique) Soro), "Colombia Tierra Querida" (Lucho Bermúdez), "El Condor Pasa" (Daniel Alomia Robles) and "Conga de Fuego Nuevo" (Arturo Márquez).
The unforgettable gala once again opened the doors to the immense richness and infinite diversity of the music of our beloved Latin America, to the charm of rhythm and lyrics of the many composers of universal size coming from our geographical region that captivate the admiration of the most demanding spectators, both from Thailand and other geographical regions.
Magnificent evenings, fruit of Thailand-Latin America cooperation, which reaffirm our friendship through the universal language of music and unite us more and more as peoples and nations.
Congratulations…!!!
