Kingston, Jamaica, 26 September 2019. Dr. Peter Phillips, president of the People’s National Party of Jamaica (PNP) and Leader of the Opposition, reiterated today his strong condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba, and the new measures to tighten the economic siege against the island, on the occasion of receiving a courtesy call from the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández.

In the fraternal meeting, the Cuban diplomat congratulated Dr. Phillips for his recent re-election as president of the PNP and extended an invitation to participate in the Anti-imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism to be held in Havana between from November 1 to 3 this year.

Ambassador Fors took the opportunity to thank the PNP’s firm and historic stance in defense of the Cuban Revolution, and its support for the Jamaican legislative branch’s approval, for ten years in a row, of resolutions condemning the US criminal blockade against Cuba.
