Leader of the ruling party in Ghana opposes the blockade against Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González was received at the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), by its National Chairman (acting), Mr. Freddie Blay, who he conveyed congratulations on the victory in the general elections of December 2016.

The Ambassador updated the party leader on the current situation of the Cuban economy and the new opportunities that Cuba has offered approving a new Foreign Investment Law. The Cuban diplomat explained and illustrated that the main problem facing by Cuba is the blockade imposed by the United States against the Cuban people, to which Mr. Freddie Blay said that the U.S. Government blockade denotes its real interest on Cuba, to control its natural resources, he added that this misbehavior is obsolete these days.

Despite that the Cuban diplomat stressed the commitment of the island to keep solidarity with the peoples of the world. He also commented on the social programs of the Cuban Revolution, and how the Ghanaian people received Cuban solidarity.

The NPP has won in the general elections that took place 7th December 2016, and his presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was sworn as President of the Republic of Ghana on 7th January 2016.

This was the second official meeting between the Cuban Ambassador and the NPP´s National President (acting), who was accompanied by the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Charles Dwamena. For the Cuban side the First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez also participated.
