Aodhán Hamill the youth leader of the Sinn Féin party paid a visit to the Cuban embassy and held a fraternal and lively meeting with Ambassador Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes.
The Cuban diplomat explained details about the activities developed by the Federation of Middle School Students and the Federation of University Students as the main youth organizations that group Cuban students, as well as the links of these two federations with the Union of Young Communists, the main natural quarry for the Communist Party.
He also mentioned the high levels of participation of Cuban youth in the most important tasks carried out by the Cuban revolution and how the talent of young skilled workers, technicians, professionals and Cuban scientists, is today determining for the development of the country. It also highlighted the high levels of political participation in the present and future of the nation, accentuated in a special way in the most recent elections to the National Assembly, a process in which from the grassroots structures to the highest national government body, the presence of young sons of the Revolution is high, and that is why we can talk about the continuity of the socialist process that patriots such as Fidel and Raúl initiated in their time. Also of men of deep internationalist vocation like Che Guevara, who was proud of his Irish roots.
They also exchanged about the reciprocal interest in promoting links and fluid exchanges with these youth organizations.
Both parties remained committed to working together to make it possible for a group of young Irish people to travel to Cuba in subsequent months and to learn first-hand about the reality of Cuban youth and society.
