Oslo, 9 January 2026. Today, we welcomed a delegation from the leadership of the Norwegian-Cuban Friendship Association to the Cuban Embassy.
The first message conveyed to the Cuban people was one of heartfelt condolences for the heroic death in combat of 32 Cubans during the cowardly Yankee invasion of Venezuela.
The meeting was scheduled but took place hours later because our fraternal friends could not be absent from the demonstration held this afternoon in Oslo, in freezing temperatures, to condemn the Yankee aggression against Venezuela and the savage kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
Our extensive exchange focused on the current international situation in which the President of the United States has made it clear that not only is the Bolivarian Revolution under threat, but he has also issued threats against other Latin American nations, as well as Greenland, making it clear that when it comes to conquering natural resources, alliances with NATO members do not matter for him.
We agree on the urgent need to strengthen the international solidarity movement in the face of the challenges posed by a government such as Trump's, which disregards international law, the United Nations Charter, the Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a #ZoneOfPeace, the sovereignty of states and the right of peoples to self-determination.
We held a broad exchange on the situation in Cuba, the announced US plans to destroy the Cuban Revolution by reinforcing an economic war and unprecedented toxic media propaganda.
In contrast, there is the will of the majority of the Cuban people to resist and prevail.
This is the centenary year of the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, our Fidel Castro Ruz, the victor of a thousand and more battles, whom all the power and resources of the empire could never defeat.
