Istanbul, May 19, 2019. Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor Leo Brouwer has arrived in the great Turkish city to participate in his VI International Guitar Festival, where he will give a seminar and two master classes. The appointment will begin on May 20.
Prior to the start of the event, maestro Brouwer had a conversation with Cuban ambassador Luis Amorós Núñez, who received him on his arrival, as well as personalities, friends of the island and a representation of Cuban residents in the country.
The acclaimed concert player is one of the main figures of the festival, in which other world-class guitarists will also participate, such as the flamenco composer Víctor Monge Serranito from Spain, the Canadian maestro Rémi Boucher and the multi-award-winning Marcyn Dylla from Poland. The festival will gather more than 100 guitarists from around the world.
Maestro Brouwer is one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century and the most prolific composers of academic music. In the classes that he will dictate to the participants he will expose essential aspects about his works and aesthetic concepts, of recognized renovating impact for the modern guitar.
The organizers also have scheduled concerts and other presentations that will allow to appreciate the contributions of the great Cuban concertist to contemporary classical music. (EmbaCuba Turquía).
