Immediate convocation of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba to condemn the provocative actions against the Cuban people
Letter from the deputy of the KKE and secretary of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba:
"To the President, Vice President and members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba
Ladies and gentlemen, deputies,
In recent days, a new imperialist plan is underway against Cuba and its people. The United States, together with the anti-Cuban mafia that operates in its territory, as well as forces within Cuba that openly support its plans, are orchestrating demonstrations in Cuba with anti-communist and counter-revolutionary slogans calling for the overthrow of the government and an imperialist "humanitarian intervention" in Cuba. It is well known that "human rights" have been used in the past as a pretext for dozens of imperialist interventions and wars that are crimes against the peoples.
They then magnify and promote these activities through their enormous propaganda mechanism. They even use images of the demonstrations in Cuba, which took place at the call of the government and in response to provocations, and present them as "mobilizations against the regime"!
The shortcomings in Cuba are due to the 60-year inhuman economic blockade by the United States and the 242 additional measures taken by the Trump administration against Cuba, which are still being implemented by the Biden administration. But even under these circumstances, Cuba faced the pandemic in much better conditions than other countries, proceeded to study and prepare 5 vaccines, and organized internationalist medical assistance to other peoples.
In view of these circumstances, we consider it necessary to convene the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, in order to condemn the provocative actions against the Cuban people and the intervention scenarios in Cuba. Demand an immediate end to the criminal and inhumane blockade imposed by the United States.
Giannis Gkiokas
KKE East Attica Deputy
Secretary of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba "
