Litza Elena González Desdín, President of the Federation of Cuban University Students, Carries Out Intensive Work Agenda in Geneva

Geneva, August 27, 2026. Litza Elena González Desdín, president of the Federation of Cuban University Students (FEU), is on a working visit to the Swiss headquarters of the United Nations.

Litza Elena is part of the Cuban delegation to the 44th Plenary Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), along with Norma Goicochea Estenoz, president of the Cuban United Nations Association (ACNU) and member of the WFUNA Executive Committee.

The WFUNA Plenary Assemblies are held every three years and are attended by delegates and representatives from more than 100 United Nations Associations worldwide.

This year, the forum will meet from August 26 to 28 under the theme “Restoring Multilateralism,” focusing its main discussions on highly relevant topics such as the impact of international cooperation on the health sector and the effective participation of new generations in decision-making processes.

During her stay in Geneva, Litza Elena, who is also a member of the National Assembly of People's Power and a member of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, will also hold talks with officials from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), an international organization headquartered in Geneva and whose members include the parliaments of 183 nations, including the Cuban National Assembly.

In these exchanges, the Cuban deputy and youth leader will report on the work and priorities of young Cuban parliamentarians and students, and actions will be identified to further strengthen and expand the excellent relations between Cuba and the IPU.
