Kingston, Jamaica, 21 November 2019. Cuban doctors and nurses arrived in this Caribbean nation this morning to serve in several medical centers and support the Jamaican public health system.
Directors from the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica welcomed the Cuban professionals, many of whom have already rendered their humanistic and selfless services in other parts of the world.
For more than 55 years, the Cuban internationalist brigades have led a long history of co-operation, including the provision of health care in disaster situations and the fight against serious epidemics.
Jamaica has not been the exception. Thousands of Cuban health professionals have performed their duties throughout the Jamaican territory, contributing to improving health indicators in this sister Caribbean nation.
