Love and solidarity for Cuba in Geneva were expressed during an emotional meeting with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

Geneva, Switzerland, 24 February 2025. — In a fraternal and deeply emotional atmosphere, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, held a meeting with Cubans residing in Switzerland and representatives of the solidarity movement with the Island.

During the exchange, participants expressed their rejection of the tightening of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, including actions aimed at preventing the arrival of fuel, with the purpose of harming the economy and ruthlessly punishing the entire population of the Island.

They reported on their initiatives to donate funds, medicines, and essential medical supplies to Cuba. These resources, systematically sent to the Island through containers and so-called “solidarity suitcases,” contribute directly to saving lives.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the solidarity and support that Cuba receives from Switzerland, a gesture that strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our peoples.

In this special context, several individuals were recognized for their commendable work. The efforts of Medicuba-Europa and Medicuba-Suiza were honored, as their commitment has significantly contributed to the well-being of the Cuban people. The activism of the Asociación Suiza-Cuba in denouncing the U.S. blockade was also highlighted.

In his remarks, the Cuban Foreign Minister reviewed the complex international situation and the current circumstances facing Cuba, further aggravated by the tightening of measures adopted by the United States government.

He reaffirmed that the priority of the Cuban State is to protect the life and well-being of the people, and that, even amid current difficulties, the country will continue to resist with dignity and move forward with the conviction that it is possible to prevail over adversity. He stressed that Cuba’s greatest strength lies in the unity of its people and in their collective capacity to sustain hope and build their own solutions, even in the most challenging scenarios.

The meeting was also attended by Cuba’s Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Rodolfo Benítez Verson; Cuba’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Laura Pujol Torres; and members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba in Geneva.
