Love and solidarity towards Cuba from St. Mary's Anglican Church

Basseterre, February 23, 2025: The community of Cayon in St Kitts received this Sunday at its Anglican church St Mary's, a representation of the Cuban Alumni Association, which began its calendar of activities for 2025, with a religious service, as is tradition.

About twenty graduates from Cuban universities, along with Cuban diplomats, accompanied the parishioners of said town, on this occasion.

The president of the Association, Hollis Prentice, shared with those present information about his organization, which is now two decades old.  He referred to their origins, history and the mission they have proposed for their community. He addressed the young generations about the importance of studying. He spoke about Cuba with a beautiful feeling of gratitude and commitment.

In addition, he highlighted the significant contribution of our country to many nations of the world, by offering the opportunity to low-income families for their children to study in Cuban universities. Prentice condemned the permanence of the blockade and the reinclusion of our country on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, policies responsible for the current difficult economic situation in Cuba, "a situation that has not prevented it from breaking its vocation of solidarity," he emphasized.

Also present there, the Prime Minister of the Federation, Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, an active member of this association. Since the service was dedicated to the Black History Month, he took the opportunity to refer to Cuba's contributions in Africa. He spoke about the Cuban contribution to the liberation struggles on the Continent, the sending of doctors during the Ebola crisis and the contribution to those nations in the training of human resources.

Likewise, he strongly rejected the blockade policy against the largest of the Antilles and described as a farce the fact that Cuba is included in the State Department's spurious list of nations that sponsor terrorism.

From this different scenery, with a load of affection, respect and admiration, we Cubans receive the warmest of hugs this Sunday.
