Malaysia and Cuba exchange views on their ASEAN Chairmanship

Kuala Lumpur, May 13, 2025. Cuban Ambassador Yadira Ledesma Hernández held a fruitful meeting with Mr. Azril Abd Aziz, Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN Political and Security Community of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

Malaysia holds the 2025 Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and Cuba was the first Caribbean country to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), following the unanimous acceptance of all its member countries.

Cuba maintains ties of friendship with ASEAN member countries and shares with this regional bloc the defense of the principles of international law.

ASEAN is one of the most consolidated integration processes worldwide.
