Kuala Lumpur, June 25- As part of the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Malaysia, the Malaysian foreign minister, Hishammudin Hussein, received the Cuban ambassador to that country, Ibete Fernández Hernández.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the state of bilateral relations and assessed as positive the development of ties at the political level, while agreeing on the need to increase economic and commercial collaboration.
Based on the interest shown by the foreign minister, the Cuban diplomat explained about the strategy followed by Cuba to face the covid 19 pandemic, which has proven to be successful. She also reiterated the island's willingness to share with Malaysia the experiences in the biotechnology sector.
For his part, the foreign minister thanked Cuba for its position and stressed the need to strengthen south-south collaboration.
Hishammudin Hussein took office last March, and in that occassion he received congratulations from his Cuban counterpart.
