Kuala Lumpur, June 13- Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad received a courtesy call from the ambassador of Cuba, Ibete Fernández Hernández.
During the cordial meeting the parties discussed the state of bilateral relations and the possibilities to expand and strengthen them. Mahathir evoked Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and the contribution of both to forge friendly ties between our countries.
Joint scientific research, the acquisition of Cuban biotechnological products and the establishment of direct commercial links were identified as susceptible sectors to expand collaboration.
Tun Dr Mahathir was elected prime minister after the victory of Pakatan Harapan, the coalition he led in the 14 general elections in Malaysia last May.
