March of the Combatant People against the US blockade of Cuba

The Cuban people staged a heartfelt revolutionary march, the largest in recent times to demand that the U.S. government end the inhuman and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade and the infamous inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The march, which also took place in other provinces of the country, had its maximum expression in a massive rally with which the people of Havana responded to the call of the President of the Republic and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez, who a week ago stressed the need to march for Cuba against the blockade and the permanence of the Caribbean country on the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

The combatant march was also presided over by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz; the Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado Ventura and other leaders of the Party, the State, the Government, youth, student and mass organizations, and members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior.

Speaking to the people gathered on Havana's Malecon, the Cuban president stressed that “the United States' attempt to lacerate the dignity of this people, by means of the club, has been undone today, with this rally and combatant march, which show how high the honor of our homeland continues to be.

In the voice of the President of Cuba, the sentiment of an entire people was heard, convinced that if the United States persists in its determination to break its sovereignty, independence and socialism, they will only find rebellion and intransigence. “The Cuban Revolution has survived every administration that has tried, and will continue to do so,” said the President of the Republic.

Cuba, which this January 1st will celebrate the 66th anniversary of the revolutionary triumph, has been the victim for more than 60 years of the application by the United States of an economic, commercial and financial blockade and other unilateral coercive measures, which together represent a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of human rights. Added to this is the fraudulent inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism drawn up by the U.S. State Department, which cannot be morally sustained and which only aims to create more harm to the Cuban people.

Numerous international voices, including political leaders, parliamentarians, former presidents, intellectuals and multilateral organizations, have demanded the immediate end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and its removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. The United Nations General Assembly has also adopted numerous resolutions highlighting this need.

As a culmination of the political activities during a difficult and challenging 2024, the event held this Friday demonstrated the political unity and support of the people for the Revolution and the permanent defense of its sovereignty, independence and will to move forward, whatever the challenges it faces.
