Some unpublished images of the ascent to place a plaque in honor of Martí, on the Day of National Rebellion.
Part 4
(Taken from the facebook of Oriol Marrero, counsellor of EmbaCuba Greece)
The placement of a plaque dedicated to Martí and his love for Greece, "the Greek" and Olympus on July 23, 2021 constituted the objective of an unforgettable collective ascent of more than 12 kilometers to climb from 1 100 to 2 918 meters. The plaque was placed about 2,600 meters high in a symbolic and magical place, in the opinion of several people. Beyond in height is the Mytikas peak, whose stones must be free to grasp. Plates are not suggested there. Still, inclination to those that exist and the lives lost trying to climb the top, which they remember. Each plaque that is erected in this place on earth has at least one point in common: the love for Olympus. Martí, who could not meet him, showed his incontestably in literature and journalism, incidentally, without acriticism or dazzling.
I wish time would give birth to time. But there is only it to note that in the afternoon prior to the placement of the plaque, coming from the exhausting route of Zonaria and when passing in front of the imposing Mytikas Peak on the way to the Kakalos refuge, there was an indescribable ascent to the top, which was full of fog, vertigo, confrontation with the never known, widening of the boundaries of human will, questions such as, "but and now where do I put my foot", "but ... and now where do I hold on?" and also of emotions, of happy tears, of joy, of love, and of victory. This ascent to the top of Mytikas Peak by a group of compatriots is dedicated to Cuban athletes who with such dignity represent our beloved Homeland at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. I hope this modest message of accompaniment, that was generated in Olympus, for peace, solidarity and love among all the peoples of the world, reaches them at the Olympic Games.
A heartfelt thanks to all the people who have read these lyrics, thank you for your support. In pictures: Myticas, ascent and summit.
