Martian class celebrates 171st anniversary of José Martí's birthday

Clase martiana celebra aniversario 171 del natalicio de José Martí

Kingston, 26 January 2024. As part of the activities developed in remembrance of the 171st anniversary of the birth of José Martí, the second meeting of the Martian class took place with members of the Cuban Educational Brigade working in Jamaica and students and teachers of the Ardenne High School in  Kingston. Those present were able to learn little-known details of the Apostle's life, his stay in Jamaica and his vast literary production. The occasion was also an opportunity to demonstrate acquired Spanish language skills by reciting a selection of Versos Sencillos (Simple Verses).

The Martian Class is a cultural project instituted to encourage the study of the life and work of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, among the new Jamaican generations. It takes place on the last Friday of every month at the Simón Bolívar Cultural Centre.
