Massive caravan against the genocidal US blockade of Cuba travels through the main streets of Windhoek

A long, colorful caravan of cars traveled through the central avenues of the Namibian capital this Saturday, demanding an end to the US blockade against Cuba and the removal of the island from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.

Down with the blockade! Long live Fidel! Long live Cuba! It was heard in the voices of Cubans living in Windhoek, collaborators, and Namibians in solidarity with Cuba who, convened by the Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association (NAMCUFA), gathered at the crowded Agostinho Neto Park to express their support for Cuba.

Cuban Ambassador Sergio Vigoa de la Uz, along with Magaly HenrÍquez and Dmitry Lobach, ambassadors to Namibia of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Russian Federation, respectively, accompanied this act of love and justice, which colored the streets of Windhoek with the national colors and sparked the interest of many who, as the caravan passed, reaffirmed their love for the homeland of Martí and Fidel.

The majestic tricolor caravan toured iconic Windhoek locations such as Independence Street, Fidel Castro Street, Sam Nujoma Street, the Independence Museum, and the Namibian Parliament.

Cecilia Muzile, a survivor of the Cassinga Massacre and Secretary General of NAMCUFA, thanked the Namibian parliament for the National Assembly's approval of a motion demanding an end to the unjust and criminal US blockade on Cuba, which violates the inalienable right of its people to development.

"NAMCUFA calls on the international community to demand that the US government immediately lift the blockade and remove Cuba from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism and from the US unilateral and extraterritorial policies that have had devastating effects on the Cuban people and have created serious obstacles for countries seeking to establish mutually beneficial trade and investment relations with Cuba," she stated.

The feelings of Cuban residents were heard in the voice of Rafael Ramírez, president of the "Patria" Association, who expressed that the United States blockade against our country has a significant and multifaceted impact, causing serious economic hardship, with an estimated cost to the nation in the trillions of dollars.

"As a result of the blockade, there are limitations on access to raw materials, medicines, equipment, technology, and conventional forms of transactions and remittances. We demand the lifting of the unjustifiable blockade against our country and that we be allowed to decide the future we want to live in sovereignty," he said.

United in a supportive embrace, Cubans and Namibians proudly displayed images of Fidel, Nujoma, and national symbols on their clothing, confirming the brotherhood that has united both peoples, thanks to the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and Founding Father San Nujoma.

Vigoa de la Uz explained to the press that on October 28th, the Cuban delegation will present the resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" to the United Nations General Assembly, which will be put to a vote on the following October 29th.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the people and government of Namibia for their countless displays of solidarity and support for the Cuban Revolution and for the strength with which this sister country has defended the island on the consecutive occasions the Resolution has been presented at the UN.

"The U.S. government is exerting pressure on several countries with the aim of reducing international support for the Cuba Resolution this year, following the interventionist agenda of its Secretary of State, which seeks to deceive the international community and downplay the devastating impacts of the blockade," argued the Cuban diplomat.

"They will not succeed. We are sure that the world will once again join us. The overwhelming support of the international community will continue to recognize the heroic resistance of the noble, dignified, and supportive Cuban people," he stated.
