Kingston, 16 October 2025. The Mayor of Kingston & St. Andrew, His Worship Andrew Swaby, received the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, in a farewell audience.
During the friendly meeting, the Mayor recalled the historical, cultural and even family ties that unite the Cuban and Jamaican peoples, while reiterating his gratitude for the cooperation and support provided by our country to Jamaica, especially in the areas of health and education, an example of the brotherhood that unites the two nations.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat appreciated the welcome and support received in the performance of his duties by the city authorities and offered an update on the effects of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States government against the Cuban people during the last year. He also referred to the traditional ‘Parade against the Blockade’ organised by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba on the Kingston seafront on the last Sunday of October.
