Wellington. – In a meeting with the Ambassadors of GRULAC and Spain, the mayor of Wellington, Justin Lester, confirmed the support of the City Council for the 18th edition of the Latin America and Spain Film Festival (LASFF by its Spanish acronym).
LASFF is a non-profit cultural event that aims to promote Latin American and Spanish culture through its cinematographic production. This festival is presented in a dozen cities and enjoys a great reception throughout the country.
The Cuban film "Why do my friends cry", from female director Magda González Grau, will be screened in this Festival, becoming a great opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art Industry (ICAIC by its Spanish acronym).
During its six decades of existence, ICAIC has played a crucial role in the development of cinema not only in Cuba, but also in Latin America, more visible in the achievements of the Havana Film School and the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which takes place annually in the Cuban capital city.
