Media war, a resource of the empire that has sought to justify the criminal blockade against Cuba and systematic aggression.

Media war, a resource of the empire that has sought to justify the criminal blockade against Cuba and systematic aggression.

Dublin, November 4, 2019. Very in tune with the denunciations made in recent days in Havana, during the celebration of the Anti-Imperialist Meeting for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, began in Irelanda round of public presentations of the most recent book of the journalist Keith Bolender, entitled "Manufacturing the enemy, the media war against Cuba".

This new work by Bolender deepens the monopoly that prevails in the so-called North American and international media and the absolute control that has been exercised over what must be published and the image that must be transferred over revolutionary processes such as the Cuban.

The text reveals the way in which disinformation campaigns are woven, reality is distorted or falsified and everything that does not suit the demonization of the image of a revolutionary process like the Cuban is hidden.

Bolender also denounces the way in which supposedly free media and political forces of the so-called western liberal democracies join the media campaign without the least reluctance, without even striving to show a dose of objectivity and how when they recognize any achievement of the Cuban Revolution they do it in a biased way, always with the purpose of making their major attack credible to their readers.

These are the same means that overlook or blur crimes committed by imperialist allies such as Israel and other states that fulfill the role of gendarmes.

The lively exchange between author and attendees of the presentation of the new book focused on media campaigns that develop against Venezuela, or the way in which events that take place in several Latin American states, such as in Peru, Ecuador, or Chile are narratedand how do they intend to look for responsible beyond the borders of these countries ignoring the impact of the neoliberal policies that have been applied for years, impoverishing the peoples of the region and deepening the sharp social differences that characterize the continent. Similarly, it is intended to delegitimize the struggle of these peoples and their social movements.

Nor could the denunciation to the resurgence of the aggressiveness of the United States government against Cuba and the commitment of the Trump administration to internationalize the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against the Cuban people for six decades, be absent from the debate. Nor the international condemnation of such a policy and the clamor for its uprising, that once again the international community will ratify shortly in the United Nations General Assembly, much in spite of the pressures that the Yankee government exerts against governments of various States to change a pattern of voting that is already historical.

The text of Bolender will be presented in successive days in the cities of Cork, Limerick, Galway, Derry and Belfast, sponsored by Cuba Support Group, among other solidarity organizations.

The Cuban ambassador to Ireland Hugo Ramos Milanés thanked Bolender for the quality of his exceptional work and the organizers for offering the possibility of disseminating the unique complaint that this book contains.
