Medical Brigade in Granada dedicates its Scientific Day to Fidel.

St George, November 25. The Cuban Embassy in Granada welcomed thirty Cuban doctors and technicians who held their Scientific Day. In her opening remarks, Dr. Mabel Leon, Head of the Medical Brigade, said that the date of the event coincided with the 8th anniversary of the physical disappearance of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, as a way of honoring his legacy.

In two panels, 16 works were presented that met the scientific methodological requirements and demonstrated the accumulated experience of all the specialists and technical authors. It was a morning of exchanging knowledge and presenting the results of their work in Granada.

The day had a space for collective reflection in plenary with the presentation of the conferences “A healthy life” by Dr. in Cardiology Justo de Lara and “Benefits of Assertiveness” by Dr. in Psychiatry Fátima García. Three mentions were awarded and a Special Mention was won by the specialists in Gynecology and Obstetrics in a work on the incidence of uterine fibroids in women from Granada.

The conclusions were made by the Cuban Ambassador in Granada, Ivette Martínez, who recognized the extra effort that each of the speakers made to carry out their research. She agreed that the Conference was a demonstration of commitment to the legacy of the Commander in Chief. “Fidel was a tireless researcher, analyst and strategist, convinced that scientific development allows the development and autonomy of a country and you are an example that men of science make a country go around the world,” she said.

The presentations were shared with the management of St George's Hospital and with the Central Unit of Medical Collaboration, but the exchange and joy that the conference aroused was the great prize that all its participants received.
