Medical Cooperation with Cuba Strengthens as a Key Pillar of Kiribati's Healthcare System

TARAWA, April 23, 2026 – During his visit to Kiribati, the Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Nestor Torres, held an exchange with the Cuban community and medical graduates on the caribbean island. Through this meeting, the diplomat witnessed the direct impact of Cuban cooperation on the Kiribati's healthcare system. Currently, young professionals trained under the Cuban educational system not only strengthen medical care but have become the country's main healthcare force.

The ambassador stated that, as a Cuban, he is filled with pride to see how Cuba's presence in the Pacific transcends geography to become the driving force behind healthcare services in such remote regions... What began as a collaborative effort has evolved to a point where these young people, deeply grateful to Cuba and Fidel Castro, are fulfilling their dream of serving their people.
