Cuba to attend the 55th Pacific Islands Forum
Koror, Palau, August 29, 2026.—Néstor Torres, Cuban Ambassador to Fiji and accredited also to the Pacific Islands, will participate in the 55th Pacific Islands Forum, to be held in Palau from August 30 to September 4, 2026.
The forum is the primary venue for dialogue and political exchange in the Pacific region, bringing together 14 small island states, as well as observers and dialogue partners, a status Cuba has held since 2013.
Cuba condemns the use of hunger as a weapon of war and the impact of the US blockade on food
New York, August 25, 2026.- Cuba warned the UN Security Council of the worsening of global food crises as a result of conflicts, structural inequalities and an unjust international order, and denounced the direct impact of the intensification of the US blockade on the Cuban people’s access to food, fuel and other essential goods.

New channels of communication between Cuba and Fiji are being fostered
Suva, August 20, 2026. - Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Néstor Torres, held a cordial meeting in Suva with renowned journalist Felix Chaudhary, general manager at the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC). The aim of the meeting was exploring avenues for cooperation in the field of communication and information exchange, promoting a better understanding of the reality of Cuba in Fiji, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
