Cuba and Fiji reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation

Suva, May 8, 2026.- Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Néstor Torres, was received by the Honorable Lenora Qereqeretabua, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Fiji, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the progress made in bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of health and vocational training, and explored new mechanisms to strengthen ties between the two nations.

We firmly reject the recent unilateral coercive measures adopted by the #UnitedStates government. These actions demonstrate an intention to impose, once again, collective punishment on the Cuban people.

It is no coincidence that these measures were announced on May 1, the very day that millions of Cubans take to the streets to denounce the US blockade and the energy siege.
