President of Cuba: Africa deserves global solidarity
Havana, May 25.- The president of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed that Africa deserves international solidarity and much more than just a single day, since the world is in debt with it.
The president tweeted on occasion of the celebration of Africa Day stressing that the continent demands 'centuries of attention' and the cooperation of all countries.
Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez elected as first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee
President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez was elected today, Monday, as first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, during the first plenary meeting of the leadership body, elected by the delegates to the 8th Party Congress Sunday evening.
Army General Raúl Castro Ruz made this announcement after reporting the 14 members of the Political Bureau, including nine returning to the body and five added as new members:

Evoking the thinking of Comandante en jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, who defined the Party as “the soul of the Revolution,” the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, began today in the capital's Convention Center, presided by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Party Central Committee; José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary; and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic; among other leaders of the Party and government.
Prime Minister of Cuba expresses condolences on the death of the founding father of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea
Suva, March 11. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, sent a message to his counterpart from Papua New Guinea, Honorable James Marape, to express condolences on behalf of the Government and the Cuban people for the recent death of Sir Michael Somare, recognized as the founding father of that Independent State of the Pacific.
In the letter, Marrero Cruz asked the current Papuan Head of Government to extend his condolences to Somare's family.
