Ms. Dora Bakoyannis, President of the Permanent Commission on National Defense and Foreign Relations, received the Ambassador of Cuba His Excellency Mr. Aramís Fuente Hernández in her offices in Parliament.
In a cordial atmosphere, they recognized the excellent relations that exist between both Parliaments and exchanged on the common interest of continuing to strengthen them and increase collaboration between the two Friendship Groups and other parliamentary bodies and commissions.
Referring to the relations between both peoples, Mrs. Bakoyannis expressed that they are characterized by friendship and solidarity and reiterated Greece's firm position in favor of the UN General Assembly resolution that calls for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade to Cuba.
The Ambassador thanked Greece for this firm position and offered extensive information about current events in Cuba, and the harmful impact that the blockade maintained by the United States Government for more than 60 years against his country and the absurd inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral list of countries supposedly promoting terrorism.
Finally, they expressed their willingness to continue working to increase bilateral cooperation and strengthen exchanges in the economic and commercial sphere.
