MEETING OF THE AMBASSADOR WITH THE HEAD OF THE SYRIZA INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS DEPARTMENT

The Cuban ambassador, Aramís Fuente Hernández, held a meeting with Ms. Rena Dourou, head of the International Relations Department of the Syriza Party and member of the Hellenic Parliament, who was accompanied by Ms. Helena Tserezole.
The diplomat provided extensive information on the situation in Cuba and the enormous economic and human damage that the economic, commercial, and financial blockade maintained by the United States against his country for more than six decades continues to cause. He pointed out that it is an economic war that seeks to cause maximum harm to the Cuban people, depriving them of their livelihoods and means of subsistence.
He also recalled that Cuba has been a victim of terrorism for many years, and that such actions continue to be organized from United States territory. However, unilaterally and unfairly, it has been included on the illegitimate list of countries that supposedly promote it.
It must be said that the situation is difficult, but Cuba remains steadfast and its people have not lost hope; their spirit of resistance remains strong even despite the constant campaigns.
We are confident, the ambassador said, that we will continue to resolutely confront the blockade, coercive measures, and false propaganda campaigns that distort the country's realities, because we have a courageous and determined people and a youth, heirs to heroic traditions of struggle, ready to victoriously face this or any other challenge.
He also referred to the situation in Gaza and the genocide being committed against the heroic Palestinian people, as well as the dangers looming over Latin America and the Caribbean today, with the unjustified deployment of warships under the pretext of combating drug trafficking and an open threat against Venezuela, accusing it, falsely and without evidence, of being a country with drug cartels.
He said international mobilization is important to prevent aggression, noting that this is a very dangerous situation for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean and that the region must be preserved as a zone of peace, as proclaimed by its heads of state and government in 2014.
