Colombo, March 8, 2024. The Ambassador of Cuba in Sri Lanka Andrés Marcelo Garrido, held a meeting with Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of the NPP (National People's Power), at the headquarters of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) party, in Pelawatta.
Bimal Ratnayake, National Executive Member of the NPP, and the First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Maribel Duarte González, also participated.
The Ambassador updated leader Anura Dissanayake on the policy of blockade and sanctions by the United States, which has worsened in recent years with the unjust inclusion of Cuba in the so-called list of countries that sponsor terrorism and the media war against the revolution and its achievements. He thanked its political organization for the permanent samples of solidarity towards the Cuban people.
During the meeting, the relations between both friendly countries were discussed.
The NPP (National People's Power, or Jathika Jana Balawegaya), is a political alliance in Sri Lanka. It was established in 2015 by Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna , (JVP). It is made up of 28 political parties and other organizations.
