Tehran, July 4, 2026. Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Hossein Simaei, received Cuba's Minister of Higher Education, Dr. C. Walter Baluja García, who traveled to Tehran leading the official Cuban delegation participating in the ceremony honoring the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The Cuban minister praised Iran's scientific and technological advancements, despite the sanctions and the Iranian minister expressed his hope that Cuba, like Iran, would be able to overcome U.S. pressures and policies.
Both parties highlighted the importance of developing and expanding academic and research cooperation between the two countries.
Participating in the meeting on the Cuban side were Armando Vergara Bueno, Director of North Africa and the Middle East at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jorge F. Lefebre Nicolás, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Tehran.
