Wellington, February 23, 2026.- The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in New Zealand held a productive meeting with members of the Cuba solidarity campaign in the country.
Participants agreed on concrete actions to support Cuba in response to the recent U.S. presidential executive order declaring Cuba an “unusual threat” to its national security — a further escalation of hostile policy against the Cuban people.
Coordination was also achieved with activists and organizations in Auckland and Christchurch, strengthening the nationwide solidarity network.
A draft public statement was presented and will soon be signed by prominent representatives of New Zealand civil society, condemning coercive policies against Cuba.
The Embassy thanked the solidarity movement for its continued support and highlighted New Zealand’s longstanding tradition of defending multilateralism, international law, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
