Colombo, November 12, 2025. At the headquarters of the JVP party, or Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (People's Liberation Front), the Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, was received by its Secretary General, Tilvin Silva, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
Also present were Sunil Kumara Gamage, President of the Sri Lanka-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Association, current Minister of Sports and Youth, and member of the JVP's International Relations Committee; Madhu Kalpana, member of the JVP's International Relations Committee; and Maribel Duarte González, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy.
During the meeting, the ambassador thanked the JVP party for its unwavering solidarity and support for Cuba, a stance they have maintained throughout these years and which has strengthened ties between the Communist Party of Cuba and the JVP, as well as between the governments and peoples of Cuba and Sri Lanka.
For his part, Tilvin Silva wished the Cuban ambassador success and expressed that Cuba will always be special to the party and that they can count on its support and solidarity.
