November 4, 2023- Stockholm. On Saturday, November 4, the meeting of Cuban residents in the country in its edition corresponding to the year 2023 took place at the Embassy of Cuba in Sweden. The event was organized by the ACRE “CubanosXCuba” (CXC), and Cuban residents of the north and south of Sweden through videoconference, under the maxim "For our Homeland Cuba: United always."
The notes of the National Anthem marked its beginning, followed by the welcome to those present by Consul Yohanna Cordero Llanuch, who introduced the presidency and gave the floor to Inti Peredo, member of the board of directors of CxC and moderator of the meeting.
The opening words were given by the Cuban Ambassador to Sweden, Alba Soto Pimentel, who recognized the actions carried out in recent years, and urged us to redouble our energies in the battle for Cuba and continue united in the fight for the defense of Homeland.
The attendees received a greeting from the Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Living Abroad, Laura Ivete Pujol, who wished success in the work day and commented on the IV Conference “The Nation and Emigration” to to be held soon in Cuba.
During the development of the event, topics of great interest to the Cuban community were addressed, recalling the clarity and moral courage of the Commander and the Cuban people when in the year 78 he convened and directed the first dialogue with the Cuban emigration and their descendants, marking an irreversible milestone in the relations between the nation and its emigrants.
They also discussed the most recent immigration measures taken by the country's leadership, agreeing on their usefulness and necessity.
The holding of the IV Conference “The Nation and Emigration” was a reason for exchange and topics were agreed upon to be brought to the meeting by the representatives of the community residing in Sweden that will participate.
Agreements were made for future work and joint actions of members and non-members of the organization present there, with emphasis on actions to disseminate and defend the Cuban reality.
In the Final Declaration of the meeting, the blockade was denounced and the inclusion of Cuba in the supposed list of countries that sponsor terrorism was condemned, in addition to demonstrating the commitment of those present with the dissemination of the culture, identity and reality of Cuba. in other aspects.
