Today's exchange with Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana, President of the Thonburi University of Technology "King Mongkut", and his distinguished delegation, confirmed the good path of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the mutual will to continue strengthening them, within the framework of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries to be commemorated on May 15, 2018.
King Mongkut (also known as King Rama IV - King of Siam from 1851 to 1868) is considered by historians to be one of the most important monarchs of the Chakri dynasty. He is also identified as the father of Science in Thailand (the current King is Rama X). The University of Thonburi Technology “King Mongkut” puts emphasis on science and technology and has recognized works in biotechnology.
The delegation will participate in the works of the 11th. International Congress "UNIVERSIDAD 2018", which under the motto "The University and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" will be held in Havana from February 12 to 16, 2018. This will be the first historical participation of a representation of the Kingdom in this type of events in Cuba. The conclave was evaluated as an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and identify bilateral cooperation actions in the field of education between both nations.
We expressed satisfaction with the ongoing actions and the development potential of mutual cooperation, highlighting in particular that the joint efforts in the medical-pharmaceutical production for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases represent an important contribution to the implementation of Strategy 4.0 of development of Thailand, aimed at raising the competitiveness and sustainability of its socioeconomic model through science, technology and innovation, in accordance with the national philosophy of sufficient economy.
We agreed on the importance of the promotion of South-South cooperation and the fulfillment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
