Meeting with directors of the Hibicus Culture and Sports Foundation and the FLC Foreign Language Club.

Today, November 7th, the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Yanet Stable Cárdenas, received at the diplomatic headquarters Ms. Angelica Serrano, President of the UFLC Foreign Language Club; Mr. Kashon Brewster, UFLC Public Relations Officer; and Mr. Achilles Hall, co-founder of the Hibiscus Culture and Sports Foundation.

During the productive meeting, they discussed several joint initiatives for various commemorations and celebrations, such as promoting and sponsoring a visual and literary arts competition for children and young people, launched by the Cuban Embassy in Barbados in conjunction with Cuban Culture Week and the commemoration of the anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1st.

They also discussed the possibility of a joint activity to commemorate José Martí's birthday on January 28th. Another possibility was a cultural exchange between Cuban and Barbadian students on April 4th, to celebrate the anniversaries of the Young Communist League (UJC) and the José Martí Pioneer Organization, with the support of other youth organizations such as BYDC, among other initiatives.

An important moment during the exchange was the visitors' comments regarding the transformations of the educational system in Barbados, aimed at creating an environment where all students with special needs can receive the attention and support they require during the learning process.

They expressed their intention to propose to the Ministry of Education an exchange program for teachers at different educational levels in Barbados and other islands in the region, with the participation of Cuban teachers who could contribute methodological experiences used in the Cuban education system and that could be applied in the Barbadian education system, especially in the area of Special Education.

Based on the Ambassador's remarks regarding Cuba's experience in specialized education, they expressed their desire to propose the idea of establishing a school in Barbados specializing in identifying and developing the artistic, athletic, and cultural potential of talented young people. They noted that there is immense potential in these areas, and without a specialized institution to educate and develop the talents of these young people, they are often recruited by other countries.
