Meeting of Latin American and Spanish Ambassadors with the New Mayor of Wellington

Wellington, December 12, 2025.- The Ambassadors of Latin American countries and Spain accredited in New Zealand held a cordial meeting with the new Mayor of Wellington, Andrew Little. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore various ways to strengthen and expand the relations between our Embassies and the City Council.

During the exchange, the importance of the Mayor’s and the City Council’s support for the Latin American Film Festival in Wellington was highlighted, as well as their collaboration in various initiatives aimed at promoting the teaching of the Spanish language in New Zealand.

The Ambassadors emphasized that this first meeting lays a solid foundation for the future relationship between the Latin American and Spanish diplomatic representations and the local authorities, with a view to consolidating a framework of cultural, educational, and community cooperation for the benefit of the city and the communities they represent.

The meeting reaffirms the commitment of our Embassies to continue working closely with local authorities to strengthen cultural and social ties, promoting diversity, dialogue, and cooperation between Wellington and the Latin American countries and Spain.
