Castries, October 16, 2025—The President of the Senate of Saint Lucia, Honorable Alvina Reynolds, received the Cuban ambassador to the sister Caribbean nation, Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares, at the Parliament building the previous day. The strong bilateral relations, the rejection of the blockade, and parliamentary ties were the focus of the debate.
The leader of the Upper House of the Saint Lucian legislative body praised the female composition of the Cuban legislature and recalled the programs she visited in Cuba for the development of women when she was Minister of Health of Saint Lucia.
For her part, the Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the firm stance of the Saint Lucian authorities in the battle against the unjust and inhumane blockade affecting our people, aggravated by Cuba's inclusion on the spurious List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
The pleasant meeting also served to evaluate joint projects to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two Caribbean islands.
