Meeting at the University of Ain Shams

The Ambassador of Cuba in Egypt Tania Aguiar Fernández, held a meeting Professor Abdelfattah Saoud Vice President of the University of Ain Shams.
During the meeting, the cooperation links between both countries were reinforced and the prospects of continuing to expand them.
The meeting took place at the Al-Za´faran Palace, headquarters of the University administration. The Palace was built during the reign of Khedive Ismail in the ruins of Al-Haswa Palace. It is an important building that presents French design characterized by the simplicity of its architecture and ornaments and has three floors and is adorned with stained glass windows that were introduced in the country in the 19th century at the beginning of the period of Egyptian revival. Stresses in the building the winter garden that aimed to allow you to enjoy the sown of roses even in the most complex weather.
The Palace hosted numerous heads of state and historical events highlighting the negotiations between Egypt and England. In 1952 it became the headquarters of the University hosting the Faculty of Law and the administration offices, around it the remaining buildings that make up the University Institution were built.
On December 29, 1985 the Palace was registered in Islamic antiquities as a monument of historical importance in modern and contemporary Egyptian history. The University of Ain Shams restored the site in cooperation with the Egyptian organization of antiquities.
