Megawati Sukarnoputri, Fifth President of Indonesia and Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), received Dagmar González Grau, Ambassador of Cuba to Indonesia.
The Cuban Ambassador presented her with photographs and film footage of her father, Sukarno—the Father of Indonesian Independence and first president of Indonesia—from his official visit to Cuba in May 1960.
They recalled the historic relations between Cuba and Indonesia, which marked their 66th anniversary this year.
The Ambassador of Cuba invited Megawati to participate in the International Colloquium "Fidel: Legacy and Future," a highly significant historical event that will take place at the Havana International Conference Center from August 10 to 13, 2026, to analyze the life and work of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz as part of the commemorations for his Centenary.
It was an excellent meeting where many topics were discussed, including potential cooperation between Cuba and Indonesia in sectors such as Health, Education, and Natural Disaster Management.
