Member of the Ghana Parliament´s Committee on Foreign Affairs ratifies ties with Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González received Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Ghana´s Parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Cuban Ambassador highlighted Cuba's commitment to Ghana, and the interest in strengthening relations between the Parliaments of both countries. He also thanked the parliamentarian for his attendance at the Act of Solidarity with Cuba during the visit to Ghana of the Vice President of the Council of State, Mercedes López Acea.

Mr. Okudzeto, expressed his respect for the work that Cuban doctors have done in the territory of Ghana, since the 80s of the last century, highlighting how in his childhood he saw the way in which these professionals interacted with the communities. He also noted that as a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, he will work on the reactivation of the Ghana-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group.

In the fraternal meeting, the Cuban Ambassador updated the young parliamentarian on the electoral process in Cuba, which will conclude on April 19 with the election of a new President of the Council of State. He also reiterated that Ghana will receive in 2019, a group of new doctors graduated from Cuban Medical Universities.
