New York, August 13, 2026. – Members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz with a special morning ceremony dedicated to honoring his life and work, the lasting relevance of his thinking, and the historic legacy that continues to inspire new generations.
At the Cuban diplomatic mission in New York, participants recalled significant moments of Fidel's revolutionary life and emphasized his decisive contribution to the defense of Cuba's independence, sovereignty, and dignity.
The commemoration highlighted the profound social changes ushered in by the Revolution under his leadership, as well as his unwavering commitment to social justice, education, health, science, culture, and the well-being of the Cuban people.
Likewise, as part of the tribute, the internationalist dimension of his thinking and his defense of solidarity, peace, and cooperation among peoples were underscored. These principles, which shaped the international projection of the Cuban Revolution, remain alive in the face of contemporary challenges.
One hundred years after his birth, the members of the Mission reaffirmed that Fidel's legacy is not confined to history.
