Members of the Letras Latinas library, led by its director Mirtha Álvarez, visited the Cuban embassy this morning, to have an exchange on joint projects for this year.
Both parties agreed on the excellent opportunity offered by the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and New Zealand, to highlight the main events in bilateral links during this period.
Letras Latinas is a community library based in Auckland, the only institution of its kind open in the Romance languages, associated with ALACINC (Aotearoa Latin America Community Incorporated), which offers social services to the Latin American community in New Zealand.
The Cuban ambassador, Mario Alzugaray, presented a list of books that the Cuban diplomatic mission will donate to the library, as a contribution to further promote Latin American culture in New Zealand.
Present among the visitors was also Fiona Taler, member of the Cuba Friendship Society in Auckland, bringing the opportunity to coordinate also upcoming solidarity events with Cuba.
