Díli, February 13, 2026. At the institution that houses the Timorese medical organization, its president, Dr. Herculano Seixas dos Santos, Cardiology Specialist, along with its Secretary General, Dr. Florindo Gomes, and executive directors, met with the head of the diplomatic mission, Alina Aldama, who was accompanied by Minister-Counselor Pablo Romero and Timorese assistant Antonito Amaral.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat introduced the new heads of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dr. Andrés Villar Bahamonde and Dr. Diamela Henríquez Navarrete. Several possibilities for implementing joint technical cooperation were also discussed. Mention was also made of the current situation in Cuba, given the tightening of the Executive Order issued by President Donald Trump, and how friendly organizations have sent messages of solidarity. In this context, a digital collection about Che Guevara was presented.
For their part, the Timorese expressed their gratitude for the presence of Cuban medical professionals in the country for over 20 years, as well as for the training of more than a thousand Timorese doctors and the recognition of the significant contribution of Cuban medical assistance to the Timor-Leste national health system. Requests were also made for the exchange of professional knowledge, acknowledging the high qualifications of Cuban physicians.
